“Da Water Brought Us” Art Exhibition at the Mather School runs through July 31, 2022 at the TCL Campus in Beaufort, SC.
This exhibit, hosted in partnership with the Beaufort Arts Council, Mather School Museum, Technical College of the Lowcountry, and the Gullah Geechee Culture Heritage Corridor NHA will showcase the works of over 10 different artists that center Gullah Geechee culture within each piece.
Description of Collection:
Victoria A. Smalls Gullah Geechee Art Collection: Da Water Brought Us.
The collection will feature 20 works of art from emerging and notable artists, whose compositions derive from a broad range of styles and stories, conveying the collector’s love of her Gullah Geechee culture. Featured in the collection are works from renowned artists such as James Denmark, Cassandra Gillens, Della Wells, Synthia Saint James, with pieces from regional and local creatives such as Amiri Farris. This collection has taken more than a decade to acquire.
