Bracing for Change: Where We Stand and What’s Next
From statewide policy shifts to ongoing attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), we are living through a time of transformation and tension. But at the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce, we are not standing still—we’re standing bold.
On March 20, our BOLD Futures: Discussion & Action Session brought community members together to speak out and take action. Attendees wrote heartfelt postcards to their elected officials, urging them to uphold and protect DEI values across South Carolina. It was a powerful act of collective voice and vision.

Want to join in? We’ve got postcards ready for you—just stop by our offices. We’ll even cover the postage. Let your voice be heard.
Anti-DEI Bill: What You Should Know
South Carolina lawmakers have advanced House Bill 3728 (H. 3728)—known as the "South Carolina Transparency and Integrity in Education Act"—which seeks to restrict funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in public institutions. The bill has passed the House and is currently under review in the Senate Education Committee.
If enacted, H. 3728 could significantly limit programs and training that support race, gender, and equity education in schools, colleges, and state agencies.
You can access the full text of the bill and track its progress on the South Carolina Legislature's website:
This legislation threatens the progress we've made—and the future we're striving for. Keep contacting your legislators—your advocacy is crucial now more than ever.
