Minority-owned businesses are underrepresented in our community. Accordingly, SCORE SC Lowcountry introduces a new Minority Small Business Support Program, intended to help start and grow minority-owned businesses in the Lowcountry.
Under this program sponsored by SCORE, Wells Fargo and Truist, minority business owners can apply for grants that fund business operations.
These grants can be used for direct company operations (i.e., accounting services, advertising, website operations, customer service tools, or equipment).
The following eligibility requirements must be met:
- Minority-Owned Businesses
- Registered in or has a business license in South Carolina
- Owned by African American, Hispanic, Asian, or Native American
- At least 51% Minority Ownership
- Small Business, 25 or Fewer Employees
- Located in Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, or Hampton Counties
Business owners can apply for grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 (average award anticipated to be $1,000). See Grant Rules for Details. Business owners must complete an application with supporting documents. A completed application requires a business plan. The application can be found at this link.
If you need assistance with the business plan, please use “Find A Mentor” for help (identify the Minority Business Grant program in your request). For general questions about the program, contact SCORE Mentor Michelle Gaston via an Email Message or at (803) 999-7038 .
